Thank you NetGalley.
I loved this so much. Austin is the perfect book boyfriend. I loved him and Bea together, even if she spent so much of the book denying they were in a relationship. I want to eat Annie’s pies and buy a Cranky Bea greeting card. I’m glad Bea unpacked all her negative feelings around being and artist and opened up to Austin. The conflict made sense and wasn’t some frustrating miscommunication.

Bea Archer is a recluse holed up in her apartment with a bunch of cats. Or at least that’s what the townspeople think of her, since she just moved in and they haven’t seen her since. After a couple weeks hiding out in her new place, she finally ventures out to the diner for ice cream and pie, only to meet Deputy Austin Cooper…and despite her sweatpants and bunny slippers, he might just be flirting with her. But despite her attraction to him, their age difference is something she can’t get over. But maybe for now he can help her have a little fun.
This book was great! I absolutely loved Bea, Austin, and their little small town community. And of course, Princess! One of the highlights for me was that Bea wasn’t afraid to take charge a little, which was shown right from their first night together. Of all the rom-coms I read where the man takes the lead, that was refreshing to hear her say exactly what she wanted. I also really appreciated her struggle between her career and her desires. And finding out the backstory of her family a little more really brought the story together.

Beatrice is going through it, She quit her job and finds herself with a man much younger than her who is absolutely smitten with her, Austin the cop. He is so sweet. The characters had a great chemistry throughout the book that made me root for them easily. I love the fact that she threw a dart and ended up in this small town. So 2000s vibes and so cool. I really adore small town romances and this one did not disappoint!
This book made me feel a lot. I laughed, I cried. I enjoyed. Reading about Bea's issues through her mind was just so interesting and honestly relatable. I didn't know that this was part of a series, and I'm excited to read the other one! This had good steam as well for those who like some spice with their romance.

Have you ever just wanted to say “F*%k the Bullsh*t” and stay home, drink wine, binge your comfort Netflix shows, and eat loads of carbs?! If so, then you will 100% love Beatrice Archer! Bea leaves Los Angeles and an advertising executive job behind after losing a promotion to a less qualified man. She throws a dart on a map and lands in small-town Credence, Colorado where she attempts to throw her plans out the window while breaking all the rules that have been constraining her from living her best life. A local young police officer, Austin Cooper, is immediately drawn to Bea (even while wearing bunny slippers) and eager to assist Bea on her rule-breaking journey where fun adventures and steamy sparks fly.
What started as a laugh out loud romantic comedy developed into a deeper romantic journey for Bea and Austin as they try to wage through obstacles threatening their HEA.
Author Amy Andrews is so good at balancing humor with steam and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book!

i voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. all thoughts and opinions are my own. thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing.
i was not prepared to have loved this book as much as i did, wow. i laughed way too hard, i cried (only a little but the near-the-end-of-the-book-will-they-won’t-they always gets to me), i contemplated my own life choices - mainly why i don’t just move to a random small town in the middle of the US in hopes of possibly coming across the hottest deputy to ever exist. and having only just come across Amy, i had nothing to go off but i can now safely say after reading this that she writes spice so well!!
Austin freaking Cooper. ooooh damn. that man knew exactly what he was doing. he had me hot under the collar in 0.00005 seconds i swear… IT WAS ALL THE MA’AMS.
and Bea was fantastic! m/c’s can be hit or miss - but Bea was definitely a hit. her internal monologue was hilarious. her struggles were real without her coming across as annoying or whiny. and i too would risk it all if i met someone like Austin.
long story short, i really enjoyed this. and now that i know there’s more books set in Credence… i’ll be back.
