While I don’t always love all her work, I will *always* love Kelly Link for her inventiveness and originality. I can’t honestly recommend this book widely to people who aren’t already diehard fans of hers, mostly because is so long and it feels almost laborious to get through to the part where the narrative finally really comes together. It takes nearly half the novel for the tension to rise in a really interesting way and I’m still not sure if the payoff was totally worth it, but her ideas are never ever boring. Reading Kelly Link feels a lot like watching a Miyazaki film— it’s that thought you have after it’s over, “how did that person come to have such levels of imagination??” And you marvel for a while and sit with the ideas feeling tingly all over.

I’m sitting on a plane about to cry because LOVE! I want to reread this because the end was so beautiful and also Kelly Link incredible chaos juggler
