The Book of Love

Either Vita Nostra for the extremely well-off, or Gaiman's Sandman but even younger oriented and even more cutesy.
Was impressed with how free-ranging and idiosyncratic the author managed to make the story feel through employment of slower pace with many a quirky digression and turn, even though if shortly summarized it pretty much fits a certain — perhaps outdated — YA mold. But was disappointed a little with how cosy it all feels for way too long, especially near the end.
Anyway, certainly better and much more purposefully baggy a transmogrification of stories about magic than Stephen King's Fairy Tale.

I tried I really really tried. But calling it glacial would not describe how slowly and repetitively this is paced.

Not really my cup of tea, I pushed myself through it. The fact that I made it to the end could be a positive thing? I'm writing this review a few months after the fact, and can honestly say I don't remember much about it. Either that's a pan of the book, or a comment on my advancing age, take that as you will.

It’s not necessarily bad, I am just having trouble getting into it right now.
