Really good sampler of what the 40K universe has to offer. I am decently knowledgeable to the lore, but still found a lot of enjoyment out of it.

3.5 rounded down.

For the most part this was a great array of short stories but there were a few that definitely did not at all feel like good starting places.

Even after I've read about 12 of Warhammer books I was having to look up what was going on. The same stories feel a little incomplete as they set up a bunch of interesting scenarios and then end without resolving it.

That was definitely the minority as most of these stories are absolutely outstanding.

Some of these stories are a pretty solid intro to the Warhammer universe imo

Some stories were better than others. It was an odd collection of stories that seemed to be just thrown together without any real thought or theme. They didn't even take place around the same time, one was 10,000 years earlier than the rest and that was at the end of the book.

On the whole, this was a pretty excellent collection of stories! Some were better than others, but the writing varied beyond the generic cult fanatic tone of voice that ‘Space Marines’ covered in its selection of stories. It’s encouraged me to look into branching out and finding some more 40k books to read.
