If I hadn’t already read the second series, I would have been disappointed in this ending. But since I already knew what comes next, I really liked it. I can’t wait for Blackfire…

Lots of action and fight scenes, it also gets quite steamy but then fades to afterwards, very PG suddenly. Look forward to the next series to find our what happens next

I read the Steel and Stone series awhile ago and it was a nice reunion to see these characters again even though it’s technically a prequel series. I liked getting more of Lyre’s background from this series since he had so many secrets in Steel and Stone. And this was a good ending to the series. Make sure you download and read the bonus epilogue! I can’t wait for the next series to come out where all of these characters will come together again!

I've now finished my second reread of this series and the Steel and Stone Chronicles! I love this series so much more the second time around, and I can't believe I forgot about the whole second half of this book. The story is engaging with the best twists, and Lyre and Clio are amazing together! Lyre's character is so developed and complex in this series and I am constantly impressed by the intricate but understandable world of magic Marie has created here. I really liked the glimpses of Ash in this book, although I want more of him. This has made me so excited for Blackfire and I can't wait for this fall. I don't know what's better, the end of the pandemic or the release of that book. Jk. Not really. Annette Marie stands as one of my favourite authors and I will never stop reading everything she creates.
