I love Pam Jenoff's books. I go into anything she writes knowing that I won't have difficulty getting into the book. She creates vivid, complex characters that I relate to and enjoy or sympathize with. This book was predictable but not boring. I found some of the plot a bit too unfeasible but it left my heart happy in the end.

This had some goooood plot twists that I enjoyed quite a bit. Also the plot points around Eastern Europe and when the Cold War started - very interesting.

It took me a while (about 75 pages) to get into this, but when I did, it was very very good. It starts out slow, and the character development takes a while, especially for those other than Marta. I enjoyed the history embedded in this novel because it's not often we hear about what happened to people AFTER a meaningful event (this one being WWII). It was a wonderful tale and one that I - eventually - enjoyed reading. It requires patience, but it's worth the wait.

This book is a follow up to "The Kommandant's Girl" and has many of the same characters. Luckily the author did a good job of referencing what happened to Marta in the previous book. If I recall correctly, Marta was kind of a secondary character to Emma (who was the title character).

Marta ends up in London working for the British Intelligence Agency, which is comparable to the CIA in the US. Once her supervisor (the DM) finds out about her past with the Polish Resistance, she gets a top secret mission where she re-visits her past. Of course, most of what actually ends up happening is highly unlikely, but it is an enjoyable novel about post-war Britain and the fight against communism from a different perspective. I look forward to reading Book #3 in the series.

Unfortunately this had an ending you could see a mile off but a fun read otherwise.

What a read!!!! Second book with this author, and not disappointed with this one either. There were some wild moments, and more than once I had a *GASP* moment. Ending was WILD. Not what I expected when I picked up this author, but very pleasantly surprised.
