I never thought I would be rooting for Reggie and Keaton to be ghost boyfriends but here we are.

Ever read a story that you loved, then went back to the continuation of said story and the author made you hate the characters. This is it. Ghost of Truth is the follow up to Ghost of Lies which I absolutely loved. The funny banter, the mystery and a hot couple. All of this is still here but the mystery is beyond confusing and overshadowed the character and their story. The author tried and did too much in this and it resulted in both Maddox and Hiro to look helpless and useless the entire book. I grew so frustrated with Hiro and him constantly having breakdowns when the ghost surround him. Maybe have him learn how to better use his abilities in the third book. There is potential with the introduction of a different ability, maybe a guru to help guide him or something. Can't be having a supernatural book with a main character that's in the dark and helpless constantly, it gets repetitive after the first time he needs help or needs to be rescued

As Hiro and Maddox explore the next stage of their relationship - moving in together - fuckery is afoot.

There is something very, very strange going on with the ghosts Hiro is encountering, and it all seems to stem back to this town. This town where Maddox experienced tragedy in the form of his best friend, Reggie, passing. (And Reggie isn't too pleased about returning to this place either, and is not quiet about it. Hiro would know.)

The strangeness of the entire situation is really, really off-putting. Like, nightmare fuel levels of off-putting. And the more Hiro and Maddox dig into it, the more danger they find themselves in. And it all comes back to this fucked up little town.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. When you come from a small, insular town, strangers are not welcome. And this is especially true when one of the strangers is a detective, and the other is a spiritual medium (not that Hiro calls himself that, but it's the easiest explanation).

As they unravel the mystery and solve the case, Hiro realizes that his abilities to interact with ghosts are changing, and becoming stronger. And while this is mildly concerining, he has a pretty substantial support system by his side.

While this story was more plot than character driven, I was still firmly invested in the relationship between Maddox and Hiro. They work really well together, and I adore their banter! With one book left in the trilogy, I'm really looking forward to seeing where their relationship goes, and what's up next for Hiro, Maddox, and their friends and loved ones.

Hiro and Maddox along with their ghost friends are back, trying to move on past last books events while learning to live together.
We learn more of Reggies past to see why he hasn't moved on these 5 years he's been dead, aside from harassing Maddox and now Hiro.
Natalie and Reggies are now beaties, leading to even more harassment of Hiro, but also making Hiro have to figure out his powers for once. Lots of action and snark with some sweetness mixed into balance this wild group.

It hurts I was really invested in the protagonists BUT I never thought I am going to say this but there was too much banter. It was not cute it was not funny for me it just messed with the reading flow and the story of the book. Sorry :(

I enjoy Alice Winters' writing and characters a lot and read all of her books.
They make me smile and chuckle.
This story didn't work for me. It felt so much longer than it needed to and when resolution was reached I just felt like I couldn't believe that was what happened? I'm not sure if I would read more of this particular series.
