Overall feelings of this were a three since I was not in the right mindset to be receptive to hope, even though I love Jane Goodall and think she is doing important work.

Wasn’t a big fan of the inspiration porn at the end.

This book follows 'The book of Joy' - interviews with the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
I must admit I was very sceptical, as I had barely heard about Jane Goodall. This book not only told me more about her enormous work with wildlife exploration and preservation, but was also a very inspiring conversation about life, hope, death and the human spirit.
It is a great book to finish a year with!
I am grateful for the most insatiable reader - Andrea, for picking it in the book club, as I doubt i would have read it otherwise.

Liked, but didn’t love. I listened to the audio since it was narrated by the authors, but it felt disjointed for me. It was as if they recorded a conversation and then one author wrote the book as if it was just that, but Ms. Goodall’s parts came across as acting, as if she was trying to recreate the original conversation. Regardless, this was interesting and original.

Animal Welfare

Very interesting book.

One of my biggest takeaways:
I really liked her justified criticism of the illegal animal trade, and how the proximity to animal consumption likely led to COVID-19.

We need to protect wildlife - not put them in wet markets!
