Good book with a lot of information about a key part of WW2. But not as much fun to read as his biographies focused on one of two people. You’ll like it if you want to learn all the details about the deception of the Nazis before D Day.

Interesting but heavy. Probably bad timing on my part to go back to back non-fiction reads.

3.5 stars. Very interesting and well researched history lesson. It was a bit slow and felt like it could have been 100 pages shorter, as there was a lot of build up for the last 100 pages. The spy characters and their handlers were all unique and that helped, but the amount of characters that didn't always fit in was a draw back.

Average narration. Put on foreign accents. Which was annoying especially when he forgot and changed to his own accent mid-sentence.

A bit convoluted and meandering. The first half lays out a number of characters whose importance isn't really established until the second. But once McIntyre begins to dig into the run-up to D-Day it gets almost to the level of Agent Zigzag and, to a lesser extent, Operation Mincemeat.

Who knew pigeons were so involved in WWII espionage? They, of course, are not the most interesting double crossing spies in this non-fictional account. Great read!

Entertaining. Found all the characters getting mixed together after a while. Perhaps would be a better read as several short stories.
