A series of imaginative storytelling by Marco Polo to the Great Khan, each city is named as a person with it’s own personality and peculiarities. Though the cities are (most likely) reflective of Marco Polo’s hometown Venice, it is fun to pick out elements of cities you lived, loved, or merely passed through in these stories.
Recommend reading and reflecting on this book in a liminal space, like a waiting room! Part of the narrative is questioning the existence of the cities’ past, present, future, the living and the dead, the conversation between Marco and Khan, and, by extension, our place in this chaotic world we call our own.
Other notes to self, this would be a fun project to translate to ASL or create a series of imaginative artworks based on the cities within.

I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to, or would like to write fiction. Calvino creates a lot of depth as he describes various cities in this book.
At times things might feel a little monotonous, but if you try really hard to catch the underlying meaning behind each city, you will be greatly rewarded.

Philosophical poetry in prose form recollecting Kahlil Gibran's _Jesus, the Son of Man_ but with city of Venice instead of Jesus. But, I am not sure of the point of it all.
While better written, sentence per sentence, than The Alchemist, it's essentially the same sort of vapid packaging of more or less trivial thoughts in a pretentious and sententious way.
Something must be wrong with me, I suppose, but I just don't get what is it people get from this book. it tried to persevere but ultimately it was just too much of a slog for nothing.
Alas, DNF.
