This book finishes what should've been finished in the first book. It is slow, but it's finally getting somewhere. I think it does its job of creating a tense atmosphere (this book is darker than the first), more characters that will make you fume. But it's not the type of story that I usually like to read, too frustrating for my heart. But I'm sticking with it because the main character are a joy.

2nd Read: Still 4 stars. I almost wish these books had been written 10 years later so they would have been a trilogy instead. The first and second books could easily have been combined into 1 book. There's a long section in the middle that's pretty slow, but I'm excited to move onto the 3rd book again.

This book was definitely a good follow up to the first book. I’ll absolutely be continuing the series, but I did have a hard time reading everything in big chunks. The last 80 pages were really what got me going.
