Wow. This book is probably going to start hitting the banned lists soon, which is a real shame because it feels like such an important story and perspective, especially for people in the red states like South Dakota where this is set. What a wonderful story about friendship and resilience in the face of bigotry. Highly recommend.

Really sensitive and interesting portrayal of an inner world cis folks like me don’t learn much about. The beginning was a bit heavy handed but it warmed up as it went along. Abigail was so frustrating but also a very realistic portrayal of a teenager in difficult times.
