I love Kelly, he is funny, smart and snarky. I absolutely adored him. Blue, well I loved him too, he had a heart of gold but the way he is wishy washy with Kelly was tiring and heartbreaking. The scene in the hospital was heartbreaking. I’ve read and listened to this. The narrator’s bring the characters to life. Love the story.

Kelly and Blue have been best friends since they were children. Blue is straight. He’s an NFL player and enjoys his groupies. The way Blue acts and talks in this book is a lot of the reasons I quit reading MF books. The author does not shy away from Blue’s interactions with female groupies. He likes the women varied and willing. Kelly is in love with Blue and can’t make any other relationships succeed because of it. He’s always Blue’s plus one and then watches from the sidelines while Blue hooks up. This is how the story goes through more than 80% of it.
I didn’t really like either character. Blue’s a jerk towards females, keeps Kelly hanging on and waiting and gets jealous when Kelly’s attention is not on him. Kelly talks a big game about not letting his life revolve around Blue, and yet he does. He’s willing to accept the bare minimum from Blue and when he finally does stand his ground, it’s more like a child having a tantrum. I just found nothing believable about their relationship. There was very little time of these two men being in a relationship for me to believe they have a HEA. I kind of felt that Blue just gave in to keep the status quo and eventually he’ll just get bored like he does with everyone else.
What I did like was the author’s writing style. I thought she did a great job with the characters in the story, the supporting characters and the dynamics in the story. The story had great humor, sarcasm and engaging dialogue. Before going into this book, if you don’t like books with characters having sex with females, you’re not going to want to read this one. If you don’t like books with the MC’s engaging in sex with someone other than the other MC, you’re going to want to skip this one. If you want a nice, neat HEA bow, you’re going to want to skip this one. If you like unconventional reads, friends to lovers and gay for you (yes, I know people have a problem with that label, it is what it is, though), then you should give this one a chance.

So, I'm not a huge fan of sport romance but thankfully there wasn't a tonne of sports jargon thrown at you.
I love Kelly and how unapologetically himself he is.
I liked Blue but it annoyed me how selfish and indecisive he was.

This is filled with a bunch of tropes I usually love but it just didn't really do it for me this time. I found Blue and his indecisiveness to be incredibly annoying and frustrating and made me want to strangle him most of the time

Thoughts while reading:
-Kelly makes it sound like he hasn’t been home in years - his room is still the same and he’s surprised? But I didn’t get the impression it really had been years. It’s an awkward way to throw in information
-they let Blue go to drive himself home after drinking? Good friends
-I thought Kelly said no to Blue because Blue wasn’t hard when they kissed and was going to agree to the physical stuff to keep their friendship, when did it become about being in the closet at that stage?
-Blue was a bit of a selfish jerk, especially with all of the mixed messages and jealousy
-it did get a bit annoying how Kelly would constantly avoid/run away, but I got it too.
Liked the jealousy and enjoyed the angst and pining. Great overall.
