Not a word wasted. Natalie Haynes is a beautiful writer. Stacked cast of Trojan women, Greek women, nymphs, and goddesses. Not every character has the same amount of page time, but Haynes dedicates equal measures of development for all of them.

Maybe it's because I've been in a reading slump this past year, or maybe the way this book is written is just not for me. I'm not really a fan of episodic, jumping-from-storyline-to-storyline storytelling. I like the writing style though.

I enjoyed the retelling of Greek myths from the women’s perspective since the women are usually overlooked. But it was quite depressing.

Amazing. I read this because I loved Circe so much and was searching for something similar. It tells the tales of many different women from the Greek epics so it’s a little slow to get into, but once I was about 50 pages in I was hooked. And the more I read, the harder it was to put the book down. If you loved Circe you will at least like this - even if you don’t love it as I do.
