A good story, one I enjoyed at times, but it is a narration of the Greek-Trojan war from the perspective of the women vs. a reimagining of their story in the way that Madeline Miller makes us see characters anew. Although it attempts to give the women involved a fuller story/voice in the epic and is touted as a feminist retelling, the women's stories still center largely around the actions of and loss of men. The women in these stories often have a horrific and unsatisfactory fate, and there isn't much that Haynes writes that changes this. It's still a story of men.
