Thank you to the author and the publisher Storm Publishing for allowing me access to an e-read ARC of this book.
Meet Suzie, teacher and newly single thanks to her husband of two years having an affair!
Suzie leaves her home and job for a fresh start. With the summer holidays ahead before starting her new job, there's time for a girls' holiday with her five cousins. Hooking up with Carlos, holiday fling, Suzie (using the alias Aurelia from Fance) wasn't expecting to fall for him, but after he stands her up, she goes home disappointed.
September arrives, and Suzie is not the only new teacher to start. Suzie is shocked to find Carlos is the new Spanish teacher, only he's not Carlos from Spain, he's Charlie from England!
We then follow the highs and lows as the pair try to make a go of the relationship as their true self's without the magic of Spain.
I loved this book. It's a fab, fun summer read, filled with so many funny and satirical points. I was constantly reading out sections to family as they queried my laughter! I loved both Suzie and Charlie's characters and the beautiful relationship each has with their families. Their attitude and connection to their pupils had me wishing they had taught me at school!
I loved hearing their inner dialogue and how it showed that relationships aren't always sunshine and roses. They can be messy with misread signs and false starts. Yes there were moments where you could guess what might happen next but that in no way spoiled it for me. I enjoyed meeting other members of staff and was pleased to discover they have their own stories, which I can't wait to pick up.
If you're looking for a hilarious summer romance for your holiday read, look no further! This is the book for you!

Hilarious, fast paced, juicy vacation-y read. The perfect mix of cliche romcom and unexpected twists and turns. The banter between the characters was really lovely. The trips across Europe fun, and the British sayings made it even better. The only downside was the characters sometimes internally-monologues in the middle of their dialogue which made it a bit confusing to follow what was actually said.

This was an arc that I was looking forward to and wasn't worried about at all because I've consistently enjoyed the author's last four books, full of humor, and layered characters, and innuendo (and increasingly spicy). I still liked the characters and their story. Charlie and Suzie met on summer holiday and had one sweet impromptu date and one hot day together. But due to a misunderstanding during their hilarious meet cute, they both weren't honest about who they were, which comes back to bite them when they bit start working at the same school back in London. They try to rekindle but it's not the same and the entire book after is the back and forth and as time goes by and they figure out how they can make it work in real life (with multiple issues that crop up). Still got the humor, the innuendo and light spice, and characters with interesting back stories. But there was something different about the writing style in this one, that may be because it's an arc and not the final version, but both characters in their inner monologues would address people like "you" and it felt out of place with the rest of their thoughts and dialogue. I've seen that happen before but usually in italics so you know it's a thought they would say out loud but aren't. So maybe that's a formatting thing that will be fixed for the final version and not feel as odd? This was also the second book lately where the characters both thought and said some slang from younger generations than me, which I found odd and ceinfey to begin with but that I am fairly certain is out of date already, so that always makes me cringe. Regardless, it all wasn't enough for me not to like the book well enough overall, even if not my fave of hers. Also, the recurrence of so many of her other characters (including a bunch I didn't realize were from her older series I've not read) made me want to read more from her, which I definitely will in the future. Thank you to Storm for the arc; the book is out July 18/25.

I’m a huge Kristen Bailey fan so was really hoping to get approved for this one. It was nice to take a break from the thrillers and this was a good one for that. Yet again it wasn’t usual to hear me laughing out loud in bed while I got to know Charlie and Susie and all the antics they got up to. Bailey has such a knack for writing loveable, quirky characters and she brings there personalities to life on the page. NOT Paul though, he’s gone on my hit list 🤐. It was also nice to revisit with other characters from previous books - The Callaghan Sisters will always hold a place in my heart ❤️. If you’re looking for a feel good, laugh out loud read then I can’t recommend this one more or any of Kristen Bailey’s.

Susie & Charlie are so sweet. A holiday romance based on mistaken identities & fabrications takes a sharp turn into reality when they realize they’re new coworkers. Can they bring those vacation sparks into their mundane, everyday lives? Kristen Bailey does such a good job of capturing the coziness of those everyday lives. This is so funny & warm. Susie & Charlie both have ridiculous, lovable families watching out for them. This is a holiday fling, a second & maybe third chance and a workplace romance. I loved the shift in settings. Their students add a lot of comedy! Thank you to NetGalley & Storm Publishing for the e-ARC.

If Kristen Bailey writes it, I will read it. Her first summer rom-com and I loved it. The main characters were so cute and their banter was great. The side characters were phenomenal and if you are a Bailey fan too be on the lookout for cameos! The story might have been a smidge too long but I stayed up anyway to finish it!
