I got an advanced copy of this on goodreads, and I was very excited as she is one of my favorite authors. Really enjoyed this one

I have mixed feelings about this book. The story itself is choppy and erratic, the story moves at a snail's pace. There was a time or two in the beginning chapters where I felt like giving up on it. The exposition is terribly detailed: why did I need to know every minute detail? What grand purpose did it have? The characters were strong; definitely a good example of characterization. There are sort-of twists in the book, but I would bill this book as more of a "drama" than "romance" or "suspense." I'd be interested in checking out Liane's other books, but this wasn't the strongest introduction.

Audiobook
More predictable than others but still worth listening to

The last 1/3-1/4 of this book really outshone the rest. In general I'm not a fan of mysteries because of the build-build-BUILD-then-reveal formula-- and I still don't like that in her books. It just feels like the author is in on a novel-long inside joke the whole time. And this book suffers from that for most of the novel, but the "reveal" is given early enough to let it unpack more by the end.

My least favorite of her books that I've read so far. Never really connected with the characters and hardly even liked them. Vid and Tiffany would have made it a lot more interesting as main characters instead of secondary characters.
