Pretty good, but definitely can tell it's Sanderson's FIRST book, it's lacking a lot of the nuance he usually has and is clumsy in it's writing, a lot more telling than showing happening too

Another good Sanderson read very interesting world and magic system but a little bit slower than the Mistborn series overall.

I came to love this book by the end of it. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that in some places I found it slow or hard to pick up. Still a fantastic read, but weaker compared to Sanderson’s other works which would make sense considering this was his first book.

I enjoyed the setting and the fantasy aspects of this book, but you can tell that this is Brandon’s first published work. Not unlike Mistborn 1, I think there are some sloppy twists and contrivances that irked me. Overall still enjoyed, but made me much less invested in the ending
