Compared to Sanderson's other Cosmere books, this is a SLOWWWWWW BURNNNNNNNN. Takes almost half the book to get going and then once it does, it's a sprint to the finish line. Ultimately I really liked it, but I would not recommend it as the first book in the Cosmere that someone reads. If you're a fan of intricate court politics, mysterious magic systems, rising up from absolute rock bottom, and enigmatic religious war, you'll probably like this book.

Me encantó! Lo senti algo lento al inicio pero con las suficientes cosas pasando en varios momentos como para mantenerme atento a la trama tooodo el rato, creo que para entrar en el cosmere es lo mejor, intenté que asi fuera con El imperio final pero no me atrapó, ahora que leí elantris creo que entiendo el porqué gusta tanto Brandon Sanderson, definitivamente seguiré leyendo sus obras. Autoconclusivo (o eso creo) y muy bonito. Es una historia que no tiene mucha accion, sin embargo los dialogos y las situaciones se sienten muy reales, a pesar de ser una obra fantastica, ademas cada faccion y pais tiene sus diferencias eso me gustó mucho.

The plot is mostly revolved around the characters not really focusing on the magic or armies. With that you get attached to the characters but the drawback is the plot is slow moving. Over all it’s a great story but a slow read

WOW

I was nervous about starting Brandy Sandy books with them being so hyped, but man, I was not disappointed. This is my favourite book of the year, so far.

Great place to start if you're not sure! Glad he's writing more in Elantris because it's such a cool world and concept.
