I have this 4 stars only for the beginning 3/4 of the book. I really wanted to like this book & I did for the majority. The twists and thrills kept me up late reading and I had to stop myself before I got to more creepy stuff before I slept! The ending was weird though, it didn't seem to make sense with the rest of the book. Like it did, but it didn't - it just seemed like an odd way to shrug off all the horror that happened to Silla. I didn't mind the font changes & instaromance, but I would've liked something other than "this is all your imagination".

I was only able to finish this book because I thought the audio version was great. The narrator did amazing voices and the sound effects made it creepy. However, the story itself was not as strong and I would probably have not finished. AND DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE ENDING. It's right up there with Dracula!

I couldn’t finish it. I might give it another shot someday, but it was boring and confusing.

You can find this review and others on my blog SleepySamReads!

I was in the mood for something creepy so I borrowed this from my library. It certainly was creepy! It is the first book I've read in a while that had me a little freaked out. I usually read on my phone in the dark right before bed and I had to turn on my light several times to check the corners of my room for the Creeper Man.

I will say that I was incredibly confused while reading this book. I was confused enough that I almost DNF it a couple times. But I am so glad I stuck with it because the ending cleared everything up and was SO GOOD.

I absolutely love stories about family relationships. Especially those between siblings. I love that it's clear very early on that the only thing that truly matters to Silla is the well being of her sister, Nori.

I also really loved seeing Silla's descent into madness. The writing allows you to truly grasp how Silla is feeling.

And the Trees Crept In is primarily in Silla's POV, though we do get small glimpses in Nori's and Cath's POV, as well as a 3rd person POV of Cath, Pamela, and Anne as children. I really loved this. It is not done in a confusing way, and added to story.

I don't want to say too much in fear of spoiling it, but I loved the way the story is laid out. By the end of the story, it makes total sense why we read the same passages a couple times, or why things don't always add up correctly.

I highly recommend this to someone who isn't easily dissuaded by weirdness and confusion. I promise things are cleared up by the end!!

This was such a strange but neat book. I absolutely LOVED the format. There were journal entries that had random bold letters in them to where the entire journal entry said one thing, but then the bold letters made a sentence that said something else. The sentences were in verse sometimes or just bigger or smaller or had random spacing. It was really neat! That's about where my love stopped. It started strong and was really freaking cool and I was so caught up in figuring out what was happening....and then that ending. One of my book pet peeves, I feel like it's such a cop out. it started to lose me the last third of the book and the ending was just so disappointing. So yeah. A big disappointment. Others may not view it that way though and I think the rest of the book may have been worth the read. I just wish it would have had a better resolution.

Almost 100 pages into this book, I was going to give up on it. Then it took off and became delightfully creepy! Very glad I listened to the audio version!
