I loved this book with all my heart. I savored every minute of reading it. Every sentence is harrowingly beautiful and haunting, really beautifully crafted, balancing the horror with the beauty in a masterful way. A true gothic and modern fairy tale. It would probably not be everyone's cup of tea, but for the ex-emo girl millenial that I am, it was everything I wanted it to be and more.

I loved everything about this story! It was eerie, I was on edge the entire time. I loved how obsessed these sisters were with each other. This opened me to the YA horror genre! I loved every moment!
changeling ?!? Nothing could have prepared me for that

TILLIA FUCK OFF YOU HAVENT FINISHED THIS YET

ok who the hell is siding with iris??? Not being funny but I genuinely dont understand why she is hating on grey so much???? Like bestie is literally only trying to stay alive?? And ur the fucking reason that tyler is dead so dont give me that shit. Also what the fuck? Ur like omg i cant believe that bitch would say thats how tyler died? Like she p much said the truth? Would u rather she said oh yeah tyler would still be alive if my dumb bitch of a sister, who literally couldnt even follow the very clear clues i left her, cause she left him in a clearly dodgy place while he was asleep and clearly vulnerable. Talking of tyler, im gonna go rip my eyes out. Anyway, yeah team grey. Good vibes tho and we know i love liminal spaces 💕

When they were young, Iris Hollow and her two sisters were walking down a street with their parents when they vanished. A month later, they reappeared on the same street with no clothes, no memories of where they had been, and scars on their throats. Years later, the eldest sister Grey has once again disappeared, and it's up to Iris and middle sister Vivi to follow the clues to find her before it's too late, possibly unraveling some of the past's mystery while they are searching.

This one isn't going to be for everyone, but I really loved it. It's a weird blend of haunting and pragmatic at the same time, and it really worked for me. A lot of it feels like the best kind of dark fairy tale, and the bits and pieces that are supplied as Iris and Vivi search for Grey are magical. It's a fairly slow paced book, and often feels almost dream-like as you read. I really liked the bond between the sisters, and particularly liked Vivi as a character. There is weird body horror sprinkled throughout, but again it feels more like a dark fairy tale than anything else. I guessed part of the ending midway through, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment. CW for mentions of suicide, weird bugs/plants, death of family (in the past)

Gave it half a star only because somehow I finished it. Gross, gross, gross, never again.

This book was incredibly intriguing and i liked a lot of it, however for me some of the descriptions made my skin crawl and made me incredibly nauseated. I enjoyed reading it but i don’t think i could handle reading it again. I think it’s great that the author was able to make me feel physically ill with her descriptions but for me it was too much. i did hope for a different ending but the twist was still good. this is not just a fantasy book like people on book tok say. this is a HORROR book. so beware of that going in. all in all it was a good book.

Please spare yourself. This is disturbing and not interesting. There was a big plot twist but it was so disturbing and creepy I could hardly stomach it. Also, so many content/trigger warnings

Check the content warnings, and take them very seriously!

That said, this book is nothing like I expected it to be. It's a glorious, dark fairy tale.

Without giving too much detail...

All the very best villians are somewhat sympathetic.

Also, the idea that souls can get stuck after death, not just because they have unfinished business,  BUT ALSO BECAUSE SOMEONE LIVING IS UNABLE TO LET THEM GO ... just, wow. My heart hurts in the best way.
