Ahhh I loved this there’s something about black romance and successful black ppl that just fills you up with joy 😭😂. One of the main things I loved was how they went to a HBCU and the discussions they had around it. The spice wasn’t like crazy but ur was definitely there and I didn’t find it cringey at all I enjoyed it.and The over all culture described in this book is just amazing I loved the family drama and food talk and omg pls new favorite author? also as a plus sized black women the experiences that ari has in this book feel so validating and to see her find a man that’s so supportive and accepting never judging her weight makes me so happy 😭 ALSO PORTER IS GOALS like pls he’s the blueprint if you are as caring, understanding, sweet and funny as him then go away

Honestly, I was getting bored. The writing didn’t feel connected, porter’s pov was flat. I liked the plot, it had promise. I just couldn’t get through it.

I love black women being loved on ugh!!! Porter is that man!!! Ari is adorable and a strong willed and determined woman!! Her experiences reflect so much of what black women go through in corporate spaces.

coworkers with a strong attraction/chemistry, but they shouldn’t date because of work. Dual POV. The male character felt very flat—not sure if it was the writing, the voice or both
