I appreciated how much research the author had clearly done, both for its breadth and depth, but it felt too often like the author's goal was more demonstrating erudition than telling a story.

I thought this was a really interesting story with some intriguing characters. It seemed the author did a lot of research (or has a former life as a criminal) in order to relate all the details of the various heists, encounters with bad guys, and other criminal escapades. I must admit that about halfway through the book I found it somewhat annoying that Ghostman had the ability to out think, out smart and out maneuver in every single situation. I do think the author has great imagination, excellent writing skills and a very bright future. Can't help but wonder if this book is the opening salvo in a new Ghostman series. If so, sign me up for the next installation.

This was first introduced to me when I was in Seattle at the Seattle Mystery Bookstore as an up and coming local author that was going to be huge. Once I got back East, I did see the book everywhere so I read it.

I have to say, the story was fast-paced, intense, and kept me reading. Maybe I should give it four stars? But there were a few things that held me back. Personally, most of the mystery/thrillers that I read, aren't quite as gruesome as this. Between the drugs and violence (yes, it may be accurate for the story, again just my preference) it left me with nightmares. The idea of the ghostman and his vast knowledge was fascinating, but I questioned the end a bit.

I'll just leave it at that.

Just not my cup of tea, though it was well-narrated on audio.
