Well book 3 definitely made it worth the boring 60% of book 1. So far Psychos is so much better but this one is worth the read!

Audio Book Review
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

OMG! That was one heck of an ending. I loved SVH series but I loved this one even more. This is the final book in this series. I loved the connection and the storyline between Mae and her men. This series kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out “who done it”. Stella Hunter and Jarman Day did a phenomenal job narrating this series in duet style narration.

This story was a whirlwind and I’m not mad about it. There was some good and some not so good. However, overall I liked the series. My favorite was Heath but I didn’t get as much of his as I wanted. Rowe was my second. I found myself just wanting them two by books 2 & 3. The trilogy as a whole gets a 3.75. The first book was my favorite and it didn’t keep the same momentum to me but I liked it enough to continue. The plot and character backstory’s were overall very well done! I want to know more about Vincent and I’ll be reading his series next!

Pros

The HEA was good! I would have loved to see them in the future but it was well done. I’m not pressed off the court proceedings being inaccurate because this is fiction. It was well done to me. The twist of who the killer was perfect! I loved it.

Cons

I wanted more of Heath and Rowe together! I feel like majority of the relationships were Liam and Mae through the trilogy and I needed more of Heath and Rowe. I wanted to know more about Heath’s past too!

Now, I like spice but when there are kids around…they needed to be a little more respectful.

Also I feel like it became more sex than relationship building as the story progressed

Spoiler ——-

Don’t have sex in the living room when the kid can come out and see it and you’re not being quiet or so loud that someone has to cut on music when the kid is up and awake. Those things grind my gears. I can’t stand spice where it’s not needed. Like it was no shame in the fact that Ripley could have heard them and I don’t like that. There should have been more mindfulness in the fact that he could hear or see something. That’s just my opinion though and something that really grinds my gears.

Things I hate in books - when they tie things up in a pretty little bow.
I am glad I guessed the killer correctly - even though she makes you wonder if you're right.
What I have learnt is that I can only tolerate so much of this genre before I need a good ole fashioned thriller as a palate cleanser. Still my favorite smut books of any I have read to date though. I do like this author's writing style.

I finished it. Yay.

I do feel bad giving this a one-star-- but this is a personal rating and I know that plenty of people loved this book, so I know it's just me. But I could rant about this book until I'm out of air and still not be finished.

Spoilers:

1. EVERY single character is full of the worst drama. It's over-the-top.
2. The judge in book 2 put Heath on death row- saying he'd be put to death within a week. That doesn't happen. It just doesn't. Because Heath has potentially only a couple weeks to live-- he breaks out of max security prison... which is my number 3.
3. There were 2 guards at the prison. Maybe 3. How incompetent is everyone that this man, just sentenced to die.... just walks out of prison?
4. 3 books of Mae not being able to get pregnant. Last chapter: surprise, she's pregnant. I hate this in all romances. Stick to your guns- if a character is infertile or has been told that being pregnant will kill her... don't give her a surprise pregnancy in the last chapter- it's just hard to read. This is what brought the book from a 2 star read to a 1 star for me.
5. Heath gets off. The judge basically says "oops."--- and then when the judge casually mentions that the other characters helped Heath escape prison he says it's okay because it all worked out in the end. Did a child write this? This is NOT how real life works.
6. The murder of Jayela? The kick off event of the series? Anti-climatic. Who even cares by the end?
7. So many dropped characters. Storylines that just... faded away.
8. The addition of a kid halfway through the story that was only there when it was convenient to the plot.

My kids are screaming and I have a paper to write tonight. Life calls me. I'm so disappointed in this book and I'm done thinking about it. On to better things.

Much to consider here: The smut was 4 stars, the romances/relationships were 5 stars, and the plot was 2.5 stars. The entire inclusion of Ripley (gag) was a hot mess even from the moment he was mentioned and I am not a fan of pregnancy tropes. Ultimately the ridiculous moments outweighed what I enjoyed enough to give this a 2.5 rating.

Okay, I am just going to throw this out there. I KNEW WHO THE KILLER WAS! Also, I called
Spoiler Tori and Jayela being a thing and the surprise pregnancy at the end, which doesn't usually bother me, and it didn't here either!

I am just in love with these books. Even though both series so far have had pretty similar formulas, I didn't really care because I loved all of the characters. All of these men are just perfection, and Mae is a lucky duck that she gets all THREE of them, when men like this are so rare
