a decades long estrangement for that??? Nah bro. Can’t believe this was written by a woman. Feels very much like “women are very dramatic and emotional” 1-D men writing women kind of thing, even discussing “saggy tits” at age 40. But it’s a woman author!

Although there were some plot points that I thought were a little anticlimactic, overall I thought it was a bittersweet story of friendship, love, and loss. The twist at the end also got me. It had me tearing up & smiling.

My most recent review features the wonderful novel The Year That Changed Us by the equally wonderful Helen Rolfe.
The story revolves around best friends Lise and Emma, who were inseparable in their youth until a fateful year in France led to their estrangement. Now, twenty-eight years later, Lise is determined to reconcile.
Helen has a remarkable talent for immersing readers in the narrative, making you feel like a part of the story! I couldn't put it down and read it in one go! Don't miss out, get your copy today!

This story follows best friends Emma and Lise on a journey of love, adventure, family, and heart break. They grew up in Honeybee, neighbors and different lives; but that never deterred their friendship. Their bond was unbreakable; until one night in Paris changed that. This story will make you laugh, happy, and sometimes, a bit frustrated. Once you find out what happened in Paris, you want to scream at them for letting that get in the way of a once beautiful friendship. But the ending will make you happy. So many unexpected reveals that will have you with your jaw open. This is well written and you really start to feel for both Emma and Lise. Very happy with this book!
