Mimi’s life is just fine, but when Ron mentions wanting to marry her, she is thrilled. Unfortunately before he can give her the ring, his ex wife has an accident and he needs to go to CT to help with her care. After a few days, he invites Mimi to move to New Haven to be nearby after she loses her job. Not in with him of course, but close enough for him to stop over when he can. Over time, Mimi begins to fall in love with the daycare below her apartment, and specifically with one little girl, and maybe her father?
Oh man did I want to drop kick several of the men in this book! I mean, mainly one, but there was period where another was deserving as well. I just loved Mimi Mommy and that the book took place pre cell phones! This book made me happy, and so angry at the same time, which I love when I read! In the end, my heart was just so happy and fulfilled! Mimi certainly took a ride from start to the finish, and I loved following along as she figured herself out!
Thank you to @brilliancepublishing for my gifted copy of this book!

I loved going on this journey of Mimi's many ups and downs as she navigates love and work and friendships in the wild ride.
When her guy proposes but then his ex is involved in an accident the same day... Mimi's world gets turned upside down. Suddenly he's back with his family helping them navigate this medical issue and seemingly has no time for her (except at nights and for love making).
I really liked that she found this VERY unconventional co-op daycare situation when she uproots to follow her fiance to a new city. The people there are so quirky and loveable. Jaime and his daughter Alice take up space in her life and heart and really help her realize what she wants.
Sometimes this book was just messy (in a good way!) but so is life and it felt so real and I just wanted to jump in and hug Mimi!

I really enjoyed this book that takes place pre smart phones. It was quirjy and tough and interesting. I think any woman who has struggled with identity will see themselves in parts of the main character's story. And I think that is really hopeful.

I just couldn't get past the naivety of the FMC and the decisions she'd make throughout the book. Actually, I didn't enjoy any of the characters. Plus the daycare and cheating substory got old and annoying fast. This book just wasn't for me. On to the next!
