I read this while in Rome and touring things like the Colosseum, so that really added to my enjoyment of this book.

Fun distraction, but not historically accurate and had very low stakes considering the topic.

Tanya is one of my favorite authors. The Comoanion series is my absolute favorite along with a couple others. I love stories taking place in ancient Rome so I was thrilled about this. Though I did find it difficult to connect with Mila and most of the characters. Felix became an absolute favorite and Remus is the next on the list along with Nero but the rest I just felt disconnected with then.
Nonetheless I did enjoy the books d the setting along with the story and much like the Comoanion series it's an easy ook to read and didnt let me get bored at all. Specially the arena scene was amazing and had me on edge.

Can't wait to start the next one.

4.5/5. Spice may have made this a 5/5, ngl. Otherwise, loved the characters, loved the setting, I believed them. Couldn’t put it down. Fade to black was not on my bingo card.

I liked the premise and strong female characters but the story didn't see entertain me very much. Couldn't really focus on the audio book

I loved the historical atmosphere of this novel, and the arena scenes were top notch! I don’t see nearly enough Ancient Rome romances, and so this hit the spot for me.

My only “complaint” was the lack of steam between Mila and Remus, and I really wish we had gotten more of a peek at their intimacy instead of one closed-door scene. This probably won’t bother most, but when reading a romance, I want to see the steam on page just as much as we saw the action and gore. Otherwise, fantastic story!
