poppy and alex's relationship made me feel soft and fuzzy inside. i put down this book with an unwavering belief that they were soulmates and that they knew each other inside out. the inside jokes, taking care of each other when they're ill, knowing each other's families, sharing secrets, highs and lows - loved it all. it's hard to establish believable intimacy between characters in any novel, let alone a romance.

the structure and the storytelling were excellent. as a reader, i felt like i was going on vacations right along with poppy and alex as we travelled along the timeline of their friendship. typically, in single POV romance books, the male love interest can feel pretty flat. but alex was as equally fleshed out as poppy, and it was beautiful to view his growth through her eyes.

emily henry you will always be famous!!!

Emily Henry books hit me right in the heart. It's the same way I felt seen and heard by Sarah Dessen as a teenager...just grown up and with more quarter life crises instead of comings-of-age. And like Sarah, Emily is officially going to be an instant buy author for me from hear on out.

I i wasn’t drowning in school work the book would have a higher score. However I can’t remember the name of the siblings and who is who but it’s taken me like 2 months to read it which is highly upsetting on my part but overall good summer rom com

I think it's a mistake to go into this book only for the romance part. Sure, there is a whole chunk of it, but I feel like the main aspect of the story is the exploration of how some traumatic experience in our lives can affect the way we handle our feelings and the way it affects our relationships to people and places.

It made this book a more interesting take on the friends to lover plot than expected, because this part is obvious right from the beginning.

It's my first read from Emily Henry and I am now curious about her other books. She's got a great writing style and a way of describing feelings I enjoyed very much.
