This was such a nice, light-hearted read. I really love traveling so I enjoyed that this book is centered around that. Normally I'm not a fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, but I did really like this one! My only complaint was that it wasn't steamy enough for me (I know, you're shocked!). Other than that, I really loved Poppy and Alex's dynamic and I love that it was a slow burn. I also liked the dual timeline!

What a wonderful experience that was. It's just heart warming and safe. It honestly serves as a great comfort read.

The characters and their situations are well built and I'm such a sucker for friends to lovers. This romance was just everything nice and cute and lovely about the world. And it was all tied together with a slow burn, which cooks it to perfection. Some of the dialogue made me chuckle, while some made my heart almost slip out of my chest.

The audiobook just made everything so much better. The narrator has great capacity to portray the emotions of the characters in a way that not only is true to the author's storyline but also has creative liberties.

Poppy and Alex are officially my children. I love them with all of my heart and yes, they are absolutely perfect for each other. Never have been one for the friends to lovers trope honestly: I'm more of a "dagger at the throat enemies to lovers" type gal but THIS book satisfied my heart in ways I did not know it could be satisfied.

EASY 5/5 read

I’d heard bits and pieces about You and Me On Vacation otherwise known as The People You Meet on Vacation so I looked forward to reading this over the summer, having picked this up on Black Friday. It’s the first Emily Henry book I’ve read.

Told in alternating time lines from the present and then the alternate being 12 summers ago, back to 10, 9 etc. essentially it gives a chronological history of the life of Poppy and Alex’s friendship/ relationship. They initially meet 12 years prior in college, don’t have much to do with one another until they rideshare to their home town, after which they become friends and decide to holiday once a year together. Over the years they go no frills or high end due to Poppy’s job as a writer for a travel magazine.

10 holidays in and things got awkward, there’s no contact for 2 years until Poppy hits a crossroad in her life and (accidentally) reaches out to Alex, who has been on her mind for … 2 years! And funnily enough, she’s been on his, albeit in a beige sort of secure, wear like a favourite coat kind of way.

This is an almighty slow burn romance. Remember …. They took nearly 12 years to get to close to acknowledgement of feelings. I struggled a bit with this yet found the meandering through their holidays bittersweet and so nostalgic. You get to know Alex well and I appreciated him all the more. In that stable, small town sexy science teacher kind of way.

Poppy, well she grew on me. She’s a bit flighty, struggles having been bullied in high school, has never really gotten past it, and won’t settle. She’s a bit immature albeit … adult Poppy, you’re an adult. I teetered in thinking she was taking the easy option with Alex and at times thought he deserved way more.

It was a story you could invest in for sure, the further you read. Best cameo to Alex’s brother and his husband. Loved them beyond belief.

this book was so sweet and cute, it was mildly cringe at times as expected with any romance book which just made it even more loveable. feel in love with the book, the characters and their lives, the story is very gripping and hard to put down. if I was the fault it, it could have dealt with more diversity.

I found this book to be super addictive! I really felt the connection between the characters which allowed me to get very invested in their story. My only complaint would be that the ending felt somewhat anticlimactic, but I have a tendency to feel this way with most rom-coms.
