Ugh this book was even better the second time around. đŸ˜đŸ˜đŸ„°đŸ«  I don’t know how Emily Henry does it, but she packs so much into each of her books.

Yes, I still cried during the last couple chapters. 😭 She just has such a way with words that you feel like you’re in the story feeling all of their emotions. I will read anything and everything she writes.

I enjoyed Henry’s debut, Beach Read, but it wasn’t a fave of my reading year at the time. People We Meet on Vacation was such a fun and satisfying reading experience that Emily Henry is now an auto-buy author for me, and I feel inclined to go back to Beach Read and see if I appreciate it more on a second reading.

People We Meet on Vacation is probably my favourite romance read of the year, and I’ve read a lot of wonderful romances.

What’s memorable about it? At the top of the list has to be the way Henry conveys the connection between Alex and Poppy. Their banter
is the gold standard of banter. When I wasn’t laughing out loud I had a satisfied smile on my face through so many of the scenes where Poppy and Alex are just talking. Their dynamic is completely believable.

The writing is lovely in general too. I enjoyed the past / present structure, and I appreciate how knowing all of that history helped to make their relationship more complex and realistic for the reader.

Sure, a lot of the tension in this one comes from the fact that these two just won’t talk about their feelings. This might annoy some readers or seem to stretch believability, but I didn’t mind, not when I was having such a good time on this journey and didn’t want it to end anytime soon.

Loved what this book has to say about different kinds of love, and home, and finding your person.

Oh, and Julia Whelan narrating the audio was perfection.

I’ll just be over here counting down the days to Henry’s 2022 release.
