*March, 26, 2011* Parts of this were hilarious, and the ending was great, but I just seemed to have trouble getting into this one. Maybe it's the time of year, or maybe it's because these characters all have established back stories in other books that I haven't read yet.
*Update* Having read this now for Xmas, and having read other Pine Cove books I know appreciate it much more!

Over-the-top humour just over-the-top enough. :) Fun seasonal reading if you like angels, lunatics, and zombies.
We were feeling festive this holiday season and had a bit of an audiobook-lull going on (thanks mainly to spending a month not really driving very much, so not having a lot of motivation to get anything new started). Dustin had seen a few tweets about this book, so proposed it as one he had never read. I swear we listened to it together the first time, but as I could recall no actual details from my own listening, that might be wrong. And being able to recall no details, there was just no reason not to listen to it again.
My original review is right - it's entertaining. A solid handful of out-loud chuckles set to the tune of festive absurdity. I truly remembered none of it, so I was just as surprised as the next guy when the holiday miracle came to pass.
One question: if at the end, won't Tucker Case come to town anyway and then Theo will go to jail?
Maybe the fruit bat will remember....

Hilarity as only Moore can deliver. This book includes a character from each of his prior books. As it says, heartwarming, lovable and rich characters, even if you haven't read all of his books to know them.
The Stupidst angel is a pretty short and simple book. No big surprises beyond the fact that it is the wackiest Christmas story I've ever read. The book features a "B" movie starlet and, quite frankly, the whole book had a "B" movie quality to it. In fact, if it were made into a movie, it would probably end up with a cult following.
This story gives you a bit of everything from pot smoking cops, to crazy sword wielding naked women, death by shovel, and a collection of brain sucking zombies - all just in time for Christmas.
The fact that Moore came up with the idea for this book is the real miracle.

Three clubs have picked this book to read and I never got around to doing it until this last year. So for this round, I really started it in December 2011, but it did take me almost 2 years to get the darn thing read.
Not my favorite Moore book. It's typical Moore humor with an unfortunate undead uprising at the end. But the feel good ending should give you plenty of Christmas cheer. Worthwhile to pick up if you have it lying about. Not sure if I would recommend you go out and actually purchase it deliberately though.

What happens when Santa is killed on Christmas Eve by his ex-wife -- mayhem. A cast of characters from a former stoner turned small town cop to a B-movie actress off her meds to an angel determined to offer up a Christmas miracle and you get zombies storming a church on Christmas Eve.

Goofy, creepy, fast-paced. I just really liked this book! Note to parents -- the author warns ahead of time and I am reiterating that this is not a children's book, don't let the adorable cover image fool you!
I really enjoyed this book and laughed out loud on a number of occasions. However, the times when I felt he was trying to be too clever and funny I found slightly irritating and not in the least bit funny. Luckily, these occasions were few and petered out as the book went along.
The only other slight criticism I have is the ending. I am not sure what the final 20 pages or so were in there for. It was almost as if it were the start to another book. I don't know why he added the bit about the serial killer as it did not add anything to the book. It was a real shame that he ended it this way.
