Eli Ever and Victor Vale are the founding fathers of roommate grudges. Seeing their crazy dorm room experiment adapted into a comic book? We're starting off this new year with some good food.
The best parts about Extraordinary were without a doubt the rehashed scenes pulled from Vicious and put into drawing here. Some of the most memorable scenes from the Villains duology for me took place during the first half of book one, so I was overcome with excitement getting to re-experience those moments in visual form! Though they did Victor so dirty with how he's drawn (fan artists I hope you know you are heroes).
The rest of this comic featuring new characters was just too short for me to care much about. Charlotte's power is admittedly interesting, but the plot didn't go far enough for me to get invested in what would happen to her. Eli's cameos were easily the best parts of the newly introduced plot, but I wanted more!
I also wasn't a huge fan of the art, which leaned towards the typical superhero comic book style. The characters were at times depicted quite strangely, with gawky facial proportions. It was kind of inconsistent too in the sense that some panels looked great, where others seemed (unintentionally) awkward with jarring facial proportions like huge teeth. This cover really doesn't capture the tone of this story either, though it is pretty!
Love love loved seeing my deranged men Victor and Eli again, but otherwise, this was a forgettable tack-on addition to some really great books.

A cute companion story to Vicious, it's nice seeing art to go along with the story

I enjoyed this graphic novel… it still felt like VE Schwab just in graphic form! This was a very interesting premise especially in relation to villains, I liked the cast of characters and their abilities and subsequent motivations. I really liked the bonus short story as this added more layers to the plot of people’s last thoughts as their ‘superpower’!
This. Was. So. Good. Makes me want to revisit the world of Vicious and Vengeful asap.

I don’t generally like graphic novels but this one I loved. Not only is the story powerful but it is complicated and genuinely amazing.
