i appreciate how cut and dry this book was. by the last part of the book i could really feel the anxiety & fear everyone was feeling. the author did a great job showing all sides of not just henry, but all of his associates. sometimes they looked liked heroes, the new robin hoods, & guys just trying to make it in the us. other times they looked like snakes, rats, & traitors. none of this was because of nicholas pileggi's characterization, but just from the way he collected & framed their testimonies.

i could see why martin scorcese wanted to turn this book into his film "goodfellas". it was a perfect book to make into a movie. but even if the movie never happened it would still be a great look into the life of a mobster without all of the glitz, glamour, & admiration (except for the lufthansa heist).

so much of this book is just people being like “well i had to make that terrible decision because someone told me not to do it”... Relatable Content
