Although long and drawn-out in some sections, how could this NOT be utterly engaging? It made me want to know so much more about Angelica Schuyler.

I never would have even
picked up this book were it not for the gift to us all that is Lin-Manuel Miranda, so for that (and everything else) I thank him. Because despite its length and density, this book is worth the many, many days I spent reading it. This era never interested me before, but the story of Alexander Hamilton and his contemporaries is fascinating enough to fill multiple musicals, and was at times even reassuring to read in our current political climate. Kudos to Chernow for this incredible work. I like to think Hamilton is somewhere in the afterlife gloating to Jefferson, Madison, and Burr about how this all ended up. :)

Having studied early American history, in depth, read many books about all the key players, I didn't expect this to have much new information. I was right. It was still very well written and readable. You can never go wrong with one of Ron Chernow's books!

I didn’t realize the library audio book I checked out was abridged until the end credits. That was a little disappointing.

I finished it! It took me three months, but I did it. I was slowed down by all the songs bursting out in my head, and all the times I watch Hamilton on Disney Plus. There's no point to reviewing this, because there is nothing I can add to what has already been said. If you enjoyed the musical, or just enjoy biographies—read it. Don't be intimidated by the length. Plan on it taking awhile. Even it is only 15 pages a day, read them and savor them. It is worth it!

I'm so glad I read this -- it's just as interesting and well written as everyone says and it's good to clear up the revisions made to his life in the musical -- I knew about some but was utterly unaware of others.
