I forgot how much I "enjoyed" Speak when I read the novel four years ago. I picked up this graphic novel at my local library and my god it is so powerful and the illustrations speak for the lack of words the graphic novel has (since you know its not the novel). By the end I was crying. I didnt think I would, but it was just that powerful and moving. Speak is definitely a must read for everyone and after that, pick up the graphic novel if you can. It's beautiful, sad, empowering, and moving.
This book meant a lot to me in high school for the way it gave voice to Melinda dealing with tough things at a young age. I wanted to read the graphic novel, & the illustrations were beautiful and powerful.

So powerful. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this book, because I found the original novel so compelling. Turns out I had no need to worry. This graphic novel adaptation is done so well. Some of Emily Carroll's images took my breath away.
