This book is a must read for parents. As author Jennifer Senior notes, most books on parenting are about the parents influence on the children. This book is about the children's influence on us, the parents.
After laying the groundwork for the concept of modern childhood (as opposed to pre WW2 chiildhood), Senior goes through the phases of childhood, explaining through extensive research and interviews how each impacts parents. Good grief - I'm not looking forward to adolescence! I found myself nodding a lot in understanding and having many an "aha!" moment.
I listened to this book on Audible and it was read very well by the author.

This felt like a good, if not overly optimistic, essay on the benefits and stability of parenting. Left me with a lot to consider. I hoped it would be more focused on younger children and it starts out that way but spends a good chunk of the book in teenage years as well.

Really enjoyed learning more about how having kids affects the parents. It is hard but also meaningful and the meaning is so much harder to capture in research studies.

I appreciated this book as a look into what life is like as a parent.
Concept is spot on but was not enough to hold my attention. Did not finish it.
I could relate to a lot of the frustrations of parenting described in this book. But, it also made me grateful that I didn't have many of the parenting issues described. Overall a great read for parents who recognize that having children has its ups and downs.

Książki, nawet literatura faktu, często przeplatane są własną opinią autora/autorki, ale tutaj obiektywność została zachowana.
