In the beginning I liked it. The banter was fresh, the devotion was cute, the setting was relaxing. It kind of dragged on in the middle with really contrived conflicts and a childish attitude from the FMC, refusing to communicate.
And then it gets really creepy at the end?? And i hated that- after one week together and six months apart he just presumes that she’ll want to be with him, even after she’s blocked his number? he’s gone in secret multiple times just to see her? he already bought a house there??  anywhere else this would be a horror/thriller/true crime about stalking, and it was kind of a bummer end to me, especially with everything all neatly and quickly tied up like it was.

Rylan escaped her overbearing parents to live the life she wants at a getaway resort but she’s under no illusions. She knows there are no princes to sweep her off of her feet or happy endings to her story because this is reality. But then she meets a handsome stranger who wants more than a vacation fling and it complicates her life. After all, there’s no way a relationship like theirs could really work, Adam is delusional.

Adam is sweet and funny and Rylan’s likable even though she’s a bit harsh at times. Her family life was horrible so it’s no wonder she’s so prickly. He does everything he can to make her see that what they have is real, but Rylan can’t accept it. She’s so sure that happiness isn’t available to her that she can’t recognize it even when it’s right in front of her face. This is a story about reconciling who you really are with who you’ve always assumed yourself to be and it’s an interesting dilemma. This is a steamy second chance romance that’s equal parts romance and comedy, with a fun supporting cast helping the lovebirds along.

A quick beach romance. Grand Escape follows Rylan and Adam. Rylan is a bartender at The Grand Escape resort, who avoids relationships and booking up with guests at all costs. Adam is a lawyer on vacation. This is a slower burn romance. Both characters have family issues that they need to deal with in order to truly be ready for love. I loved the chemistry between Rylan and Adam, especially when she was snarky with him.
