There was so much in this book and I loved that the struggles made the good times so much more satisfying. The tension was throughout and hit hard when it finally was released.

i am so depressed by having to give this rating. I LOVE lj shen’s books but this one just……
what happened? because this cannot have been written by the same person that birthed angry god. or the monster. or the rake!
it felt poorly written I’m afraid, the plot felt like a car crash and the characters just were not great! it was so odd!

I have mixed feelings about this book. Overall, I enjoyed reading it, but at the same time some of the things were a little ridiculous. I read one of the worst baby names I have ever heard of. It got a little annoying listening to Cal not realize she was in love with him even though she was basically saying she was the entire time. I have also read the Sinners of Saint series by this author and this book felt very formulaic and similar to that series in the sense that you have the grumpy MMC and the quirky “weird” FMC. All her characters seem very similar. Like I said though, still an enjoyable book and I will continue on with the next book in the series!
This book was SO freaking good. i was obsessed. it was perfect.

I don't ever, EVER, read romance. ESPECIALLY non-queer romance. But this? THIS? damn.
This book was missing all the aspects that make me cringe away from other romance books. The sex scenes didn't describe genitalia in any cringe way (no "member"/"rose" language), the romance wasn't cliche or rushed, and the characters were so fleshed out and real. I absolutely loved this honestly, and I didn't think I would, given that it's a straight romance. I loved Cal and Row, and loved getting to read their story.
I've never rated a romance story before and don't really know what else to say, but I do not, and will continue to not, picture Cal the way he looks on the cover. That is not my boo I am so sorry.
