I love Donut, and Carl is such a hero at heart, even though he thinks he's the antihero.

While not as good and gripping as the first book, this one adds more layers to the world we are following. The plot becomes a bit more political, as we are able to peak behind the curtain a bit. I liked the addition of a video-game esque "town/city" where the crawlers are able to buy things at the market, hang out in pubs, and night clubs and complete side quests while they wait for the time to slowly tick down. Carl and Donut get wrapped up in several side-quests that they are advised not to complete, all while gaining more experience and cool loot.

But like I mentioned, things get a bit more political as we are given more backstory to the games; through the side quests (and their rewards), and character interactions. I know that things will continue to get more and more detailed the further down in the dungeon they go.

Desperately awaiting my Audible subscription credit to renew at the beginning of the month so that I can quickly continue with the series.

So fun and adventurous I loved it. Made me laugh almost teared up once or twice cannot wait till the third one.!

‘Carl’s Doomsday Scenario’ is a good time.

The sequel to ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl,’ this volume finds our hero (and his cat, and her pet velociraptor) beginning the third level of their enforced dungeon crawl. The third level offers more terrifying monsters, more devious traps, and more valuable loot.

And jokes. So many jokes. This is a series of fast-paced action, comedy, and nihilistic goofiness that has only one goal: to entertain the reader. I enjoyed the heck out of it, and I look forward to the next book in this series.

A note: I both read and listened to this book, swapping between my Kindle and Audible apps. I recommend the listening experience. Soundbooth Audio does a great job!
