Oh my fuck. I do not know what to say. I am in complete awe - only stumbled across this book because of uni and I had to read it straightaway. Pretty confronting stuff at times but all of it needs to be said.
MORE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS BOOK. IT’S GROUNDBREAKING. I am honestly appalled that I hadn’t heard of it before. Find it ASAP and read it if you can. Ensler is a bloody genius for making this book. I am so proud of all the women who have made their way in this world. Damn

II’m very particular in what I like when it comes to feminist literature. I always feel like most feminists nowadays have forgotten what it really means to be a feminist and have exchanged it with hate for all men.

That being said, I am a woman, I am a feminist and I despise of this book.
To me about 90 percent of the book was a slur if vulgarity mixed with stories of old women that want you to feel sorry for them.
The only parts I liked where the once where she stated facts about events of the past. I seriously don’t understand how this has gotten so much praise.

Important piece of feminist work. I read the 20th anniversary edition which had some extra bits about the success of the play and the other projects it has inspired and lead to, which was really nice to learn about and see how much impact the play has had.

I will suggest this to everyone. Such a great piece to really highlight the alienation women face just because we have vaginas. And obviously the abuse, disconnect, shame, etc we face as a result of this alienation. Its due time that the vagina is seen as something else than the abject. To ourselves as women and others.

Incredible, empowering, and just wonderful. I loved every minute of this book and the destigmatization of vaginas. Cunt, cunt, cunt!!

I was able to see these monologues performed at my university. Reading them was an eye opener. I hope they are performed more often and read more often.
