Honestly? Underwhelming. This book spent so much time running back and forth. The characters always win, despite the odds. Random human willingly sacrifice themselves for the Lorien teens. By the time something *actually happened*, the book ended. It was a lot of slow build-up for little reward. When I was the intended age for the Lorien Legacies, I think I would have gobbled these up. As an adult, they're slow and unrealistic. A lot of YA is really good and accessible for many ages. This is nothing special.
Graphic: Child abuse, Injury/Injury detail, and Death
Moderate: Gun violence, Blood, and Torture

I liked this installation better than the first. It was fun to read from the perspective of two different characters as events were taking place, especially toward the end when the party had to split. Similar to the last book, I liked the side characters a bit more than I liked the main characters, at least from John's perspective. Sam is funny as hell. Marina's perspective I enjoyed all around. The ending definitely had me at the edge of my seat, and I'm interested in seeing what happens next.
Moderate: Blood and Violence
Minor: Gore, Medical content, and Torture
