Grāmatas pirmā daļa sastāv no īsiem stāstiem, otrā no dzejoļiem. Lai gan dzeja mani nepievelk, priecājos, ka izlasīju šo grāmatu. It īpaši man patika dzejolis The Rain.

I'm in a bit of a pickle as to how to classify this book. "Non-fiction" seems redundant enough and even of that I feel uncertain. Borges "leaks" himself into the writing through literary sketches of different kinds, some beautiful, some even more so. All of it, authentic.
Come to think of it, I remember reading some of it as a teenager back when I came across his personal anthology. Felt like it spoke to me on a deeply personal level. I'm glad there's an entire book of these little weirdos...

Translation by Mildred Boyer and Harold Morland. I have no idea why the English-language title is "Dreamtigers" when the original title, "El hacedor," means "the maker."

Lord have mercy Borges never disappoints (on paper at least, his politics are eeek scary sometimes). I genuinely think my life has been changed after reading back to back "A Yellow Rose," "The Witness," and "Mutations." We are all little creatures trying desperately to cling to our stories and myths and symbols - which are just as much affected by the world as they affect it. I want these stories tattooed on my soul.

a mixture of philosophical essays, short stories, and poetry. Borges at his brilliant best.
