This is a quick read, and while I found it to be quite unrealistic, I still wanted to read on and figure out how it would end. I saw another reviewer that said it made them roll their eyes a lot, and I completely agree.
The very first few chapters, I was hesitant on whether I was going to like this book because the writing felt a bit juvenile and overexplained at times but it honestly goes with the characters and their personalities so it definitely got better as you went on. I have to say after reading it all the way through, I'm glad I read this book! It was worth the read and very different from my usual go-to book. I love that it basically jumps right in after 1-2 chapters and you get a lot of great details and insights into each character, especially the main one of course. Total plot twist at the end and did NOT see it coming whatsoever. I thought I spoiled the ending for myself after accidentally reading a review I shouldn't have but it didn't actually spoil it! It made me weary of things towards the end but I was definitely surprised which I was very happy about. Overall, worth the read if you like teen horror and major plot twists! Will definitely be looking at Natasha's other books.
This was a very entertaining and fast paced book. However, there were some blaring inconsistencies and plot holes I just couldn’t really forgive and that’s why it’s only a 3-star read.
Trigger warnings: kidnapping, death, torture
Spoiler Alert: Natasha Preston wrote this which means you either do not get a HEA (happy ever after) or you dont get an ending at all!
Pretty much, there are a ton of missing teenagers and Piper, the MC (main character) gets taken. She ends up in the building with other missing teens and there they are tortured.
The Lost is an amazing, edge of your seat thriller that I was drawn into from the first page. Not only that, but it was the kind of book that I simply could not get enough of – I couldn’t stop reading it.
It was fast paced in such a perfect way – not too fast paced that you wish it would slow down, but more like fast paced in a way that keeps you entertained throughout the whole thing with not a single boring moment.
The plot was just…wow. Did this book have to end? Couldn’t it have gone on forever? I mean…I definitely want a second book about what happens after that ending, because it was definitely one explosive ending that I didn’t see coming.
If you like Natasha Preston, or thrillers in general, this is the book for you, no questions asked. Seriously, don’t even think about it – just go and grab a copy at your library or bookstore. It’s worth the read!
