I quit this book early because the main character struck me as a little crazy. She barely had spoken with this guy at school and most of her contact with him has been through eye contact only. Literally knows nothing about this guy, yet she calls other girls "bitches" because they happen to be seen with him at school. Also, I want to point out that this "bitch" was his twin sister... Need I say more? 🙄

At first I really can't get into the book. Everything was just going too fast for me. Like how Megan falls in love with Adam at first glance, and how they start kissing each other soon after. Seriously?! Girl, you have only talked to him once before and you are already kissing?! Cough cough... Um... isn't it going a little too fast there? Ok, I get he is handsome, attractive and everything, but sometimes, you need to get to know him first before you start anything.
I do like the concept of this book: how there are four elements in the world, and one element can only belongs to one person. It is quite interesting. However, I do think that this book could have had something more.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved the premise and the characters. There were just some things that I felt warranted a bit of adjustment, which is why I only gave it four stars.

The characters could have been given a bit more backstory, it felt as though we were only scraping the surface of these people, we never actually got to know them throughout this book, we were just observing and were happy with what we got because we were curious and interested in the outcome.

I also felt as though certain things were moving too fast, especially the ending. It could have been built up so much more but it was rather anticlimactic. You saw it coming, you wanted it to happen, and then when it finally happened you were let down because it literally lasted about five pages.

The information was also a bit heavy as well. I know that we as readers needed to be educated on the namesake of the book and the rest of the stories that that entail, but really, to just give it all to us in one hit was a bit much. It was a lot to take in at the one time. Instead of gradually learning bits and pieces, being able to fit things together, maybe work out some things for ourselves and eventually see the bigger picture, the entire story was just dumped on our laps like, "Here you go."

Despite this, however, I still rather enjoyed the book and really want to see what book two contains.

The Carrier of the Mark is an awesome paranormal romance with lots of supernatural powers and twists. The mythology within the book is intriguing and makes me want to know more about the characters and history. The Irish setting is very easy to imagine and you will be taken on an awesome journey. Highly recommend.

Romance and powers made me happy :)

An astounding debut novel that will draw you in the moment you read it!

First of all this book is just awesome! It has a good story that would definitely want to make you read it till the end, it’s really fast paced and what can I say it’s magical The story revolves around Megan Rosenberg who transferred to Ireland because her father got a new job. Then she met the mysterious, hot and gorgeous Adam DeRis which started the whole story. I must say that I’m really drawn to this book while reading it; I think the information sufficed and enticed me the whole read. The element of this book is profound and has a great impact on me but I can say that this book has this flaw that was really obvious at least for me. I did enjoy the book at its potential but there are just things that you cannot hide from the readers and I think it didn’t hide much from me. This book has many potential for first time readers looking for a good read. Story wise it was really good and I credit Fallon for creating this wonderful world of Marked Ones. Few things in mind in reading this book is that the story has… too much information which is kind of hard to digest in one go. it’s good to say that even Megan had a hard time picking it up or so I think she does. Good thing about the whole plot that it was really original though I think I have heard of story but combined with the history and the bloodline stuff I think this book is jam packed with some minor flaw.

I honestly don’t w ant to do this but I have to. The character from this book is some kind of… unbalanced. I was kind it at awe when Adam which is a male character lashed out like a girl on one scene. Megan’s character has a little bit of love-hate from me, I think she needs to straighten her priority rather than swooning over first at Adam ALL THE TIME! I knew the draw to each other but it was overly done and the emphasis on lying to her best friend was exaggerated. I also want to point out that why would a best friend draw Megan more to Adam even if they hear some weird juju about the guy? I think I definitely want to do a best friend check for this one. Adam DeRis I can say is the male counterpart of Megan but was written in a girl’s POV which explains the girly lashing out. I think the characters need more to speak some general Irish words or rather at least emphasize on the Irish accent since the book is set on Ireland.

I think the cover of Carrier of The Mark is really one of a kind and I totally like it. The cover of this book is Megan which has the air element. I wonder what the next cover will be. Without asking I think I’ll pick this book because of the cover.

Overall this book is really enjoyable and I recommend it to everyone looking for a good read. Love + Elements? What could go wrong? And did I say that the setting for this book is Ireland? The story is really good that I think everyone should definitely read. You’ll find yourself drawn in and prepare to be blown away with a good read.

I first read this book like.... 6/7 years ago since then my rating went from 4 stars to 3. Let's see why: well, this book isn't for grown ups, we can all agree to that, but it can easily read from teens between 13 and... 16? The concept is great but it lacks in development and explanation in the story. What made me reconsider the rating were the lines though. So immature! Hahahaha but that's only because I read it as a 20 year old. Infact when I first read the book I was stunned, but still gave it 4 stars, mostly (knowing myself) because of lack of development of the plot and the powers described in the story.
Anyway, it is an enjoyable read!

I will admit this cover looks stunning so I would have wanted to read this base on the cover alone. I was like "yeah! let's pick this up and I bet it would be good" until I saw the reviews *stunned* "aww guys, it can't be all that bad.....can it?"

Now I know this book has mostly bad reviews and everyone is going on about how terrible this is but I thought let's give this a shot and if it isn't good, at least I know now.

Megan Rosenberg has recently just moved to Ireland with her father. They do not stay long in a place and so Meg had not had a chance to have roots and many friendships. That changes here though, she makes friends fast, and catched the eye of the broody and handsome Adam DeRis. pronouced De-reese. I almost could not get the hang of Irish names! Apparently, many rumours revolve around his family and that fuels gossip around the town. Also, his behavoir and that of his siblings have not exactly been warm and welcoming. But Meg feels the attraction anyway.

Okay, so let me say first what earned the four stars was not the romance. The mystery and intrigue of the truth of what the DeRis family was pulled me in. I mean initially I thought they were witches like the rumours said. How wrong I was, I liked that Megan had a part to play with them and they are connected to something even bigger. But I did not like that the basis of the idea of Carriers and Royal Bloods was so darn complicated.

Kudos to the use of Irish and Celtic myths for the plot. It really provided a firm base for something interesting. I also loved the immersion into how it is like to live on the Irish countryside.

On to the romance, I can really see why many people hate this book. It is love at first sight, literally. It happens very fast and it seems rushed. Granted they did not immediately throw themselves at one another but I think there should have been more build up before them getting together. This is very classic "new girl falls for bad boy". I think their togetherness is a convinience, it is much easier for the plot to go a certain way if they have a reason to be in each others company.
SpoilerSuddenly it is revealed that they cannot be together or it will start a possible apocalypse. Oh my! More drama!

"Their love was meant to be"? Ha, maybe, possiblity or is it more correct to say "their elements are meant to be"? because it turns out their powers call to each other and that raises doubts as to whether what they feel for each other is real or simply of their powers' doing. They reassure and reassure each other that it is real, true and all but who knows?

If their attraction was so strong and they cannot stay away from each other, why did I not see more steam and heat? For a guy, Adam has some control. But I guess loosing their control might spark more outrage. It is a fine line. I am a die-hard romantic and even I found this a little too much. It just zoomed by so fast without giving a moment to slow down and really get into what being in a relationships means.

I realized the sapiness and melting into each other felt very juvenile. Like this book was meant for a younger teen audience. It felt very shallow and did not really dig deep into the emotions and struggles. It all just fell into place for this couple. I did not feel this deep intensity they keep talking about.

I also felt that alot of everything seemed so convinient like "oh Megan needs a bodyguard?" no problem everyone else is sitting around and very available. Like they do not have any lives of their own.

I found it hilarious that Caleb, Megan's father was dating someone at the same time she was. It made for some awkward moments like the "talk" and cringe-worthy thinhgs that a daughter does not want to imagine about when her father is dating another woman. Generally, her father seemed very easy going to allow her to do as she pleases and he was not home for noticeable periods, another "convenience".

I think this book has potential, if you leave other the romance, can I even call this love? Shall I say infatuation instead. Yeah, maybe that is what it is. Anyway, if you like paranormal, give this a try but don't have too high expectations here.

What can I say? More of the Irish and Celic lore

OH MY GOODNESS DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES READ THIS BOOK!

I apologize for the "shouting", but seriously, I wish that I had taken the other reviews to heart before picking up this awful book. One of the other reviews likened Carrier of the Mark to Twilight. The only that this was better than Twilight is because Megan wasn't a whiny little brat when her "true love" ignored her. Or maybe she was, honestly I didn't get that far. Do not even bother looking at this book, if you see it on the shelf, skip over it and pick up something better. Which would practically be ANYTHING else.
