I thought this was going to be an awesome book but I'm fairly disappointed.
The protagonists fell in love too quickly for my taste and I couldn't connect to them.
The end was boring which was the most disappointing. It was a bit like a twilight wannabe.

i actually didn't even finish this one. it was definitely not my cup of tea and i keep wondering why i bought it in the first place.

Irish Twilight.
But it wasn't written as well as Twilight (if that's even possible).

I was so stoked to read this book. It took me forever to find the paperback version as it was in stock in all of 2 places in my region. They didn't even have it online. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed.
This book expressed fierce emotions of love and this good sorta reminds me of the "Starcrossed" trilogy by Josephine Angelini. But, instead of the ever present Greek mythology, we are moving onto Celtic.
I find that this legend (I guess that is what you would call it) is very interesting. Although, I was kind of confused by the whole royal blood thing and how to conceive a marked child and then the Carrier of the Mark with the royal blood. Still, I got most of it.
Now, the relationship between Megan and Adam is intense and lovely. I honestly wish that someone would love me that fiercely. It was amazing the lengths that they would go to for each other. I really didn't get Rian. I mean he was cold and then hot. That big jump in character with no explanation what so ever was weird. I feel really bad for Aine. I mean, the arranged marriage thing is absolutely terrible. We get freedoms in life and loving who we want shouldn't be a freedom that it taken away from us, no matter the duty. I was disgusted on the fact that the Order was willing to do that. Then again, it wasn't their lives, so it was easier for them to make the decision. Lets just say that the Order can leave and I really don't like them.
Great start to this series and I'm can't wait for the next read. Chapters has it in stock online this time so time to pounce before they disappear!! :)

Ok so the story was pretty original and it had a fair share of twist and turns. Since it is the 1st in the series I forgive the slow pace, but I do slightly regret paying 8 bucks for it. But it was ok and I will read the sequel when it releases next year.
*Review
So after waking up today and not being able to get this book out of my head I want to revise my previous review. While I still think the book was a little slow, it was detailed and set up a really good back-drop for the sequels. I will probably re-read the book in a few weeks just to gain another prospective but I will recommend this book to people with patience, people who understand that a good story can't be rushed.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved the premise and the characters. There were just some things that I felt warranted a bit of adjustment, which is why I only gave it four stars.
The characters could have been given a bit more backstory, it felt as though we were only scraping the surface of these people, we never actually got to know them throughout this book, we were just observing and were happy with what we got because we were curious and interested in the outcome.
I also felt as though certain things were moving too fast, especially the ending. It could have been built up so much more but it was rather anticlimactic. You saw it coming, you wanted it to happen, and then when it finally happened you were let down because it literally lasted about five pages.
The information was also a bit heavy as well. I know that we as readers needed to be educated on the namesake of the book and the rest of the stories that that entail, but really, to just give it all to us in one hit was a bit much. It was a lot to take in at the one time. Instead of gradually learning bits and pieces, being able to fit things together, maybe work out some things for ourselves and eventually see the bigger picture, the entire story was just dumped on our laps like, "Here you go."
Despite this, however, I still rather enjoyed the book and really want to see what book two contains.

So this is 100% Twilight but set in Ireland. I was writing a point by point review with all the similarities, but Steph Sinclair of Cuddlebuggery did such I good job I recommend checking out hers. If anything, it's good for a laugh.
I despise when YA books have these obsessive, codependent romances that saturate every page. It makes it nearly impossible for me to enjoy the book, even when the storyline is engaging and creative like in Carrier of the Mark. Cutout some of the descriptions of Adam's beauty and sexy body, and the book might have been good! I gave it two stars instead of one because it was decent enough that I managed to finish it; I won't be reading the next book in this series.
I don't have a twilight knockoff shelf and I like to read twilight knockoffs. This must be fixed.
2 stars because I finished it, minus all of them because it kind of enraged me.
