No.

This book gets one star for a beautiful cover. And that's it.

Carrier of The Mark could have been so much better if there was:
-NO INSTA-LOVE. It's always kind of difficult to tell how much time is moving by in a book, but I'm pretty confident that the main characters, Megan and Adam, weren't together for more than a month, and by the end they were already saying those three overused words.
-A BETTER DESCRIPTION OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. The plot line is spur complicated once the two lovebirds are looking away from each other for longer than a second. I'm STILL confused as to what I just read and why exactly there is a forbidden love component at all.
-BETTER CHARACTERIZATION. All of the characters either are so wrapped up in their love interest to be of any use to the plot, have no real personality, or really have no use to the plot at all.

And why does this sound like a repeat of Twilight?

Glad it's over.

I’d seen a lot of hype over The Carrier of the Mark and so I was super excited to be able to read this one in advance of its publication date. I started The Carrier of the Mark and sat down to read it in its entirety in an entire day. I even stayed up later than I had intended just so I could finish the book.
Needless to say that I enjoyed reading The Carrier of the Mark very much; it has a lot of same-ish elements to it that books in the paranormal romance genre have; but at the same time there are a lot of differences too. To me, it’s the differences that really make this book. They stand out far more than those same qualities.
For starters, the descriptive writing is really amazing. I loved Leigh’s writing style as it was nice and simple yet captured the beauty of what was happening in certain parts of the story. There are some very beautiful scenes in The Carrier of the Mark but I can’t say too much more about them without giving away spoilers.
The paranormal/supernatural element was quite different to others I’ve come across before and without spoiling anything, no they are not vampires. A lot of it ties back to Irish folklore and so that is very interesting as well.
While there were a couple of parts of the book that were only touched on I would love to really see more of those parts in further books in the series. I’ll definitely be picking up more books in the series because it is very interesting and quite exciting.
The characters were all quite interesting. I didn’t really have a favourite although I did like Aíne and Rían and would like to get to know more about Rían in future books.
I quite enjoyed reading The Carrier of the Mark and fans of paranormal romance will not go amiss in reading The Carrier of the Mark. It’s set in Ireland and features something quite different in the way of paranormal entities. Definitely check it out as it is awesome.

While the writing was good, the actual story was too cliche and and the characters too flat for my taste. It was very Twilight-esque with how the author handled the 'mythology' of the story. What I mean when I say that is it seemed like she just took the names of things, and changed everything else about it, leaving nothing remotely familiar. It made it extremely hard to read, especially when I'm very familiar with the real mythology behind the words and names she was using.

I'd recommend this book to those who really love Twilight and want more of the same, and those who like the insta-love trope. Personally, I despised this book. 1 star.

When I originally first read this book a few years ago, I absolutely adored it. I loved the concept and the storytelling as well as the characters. Now that I'm older and have gone back to it I realize that it wasn't as good as I originally imagined. The main character, Megan, wasn't my favorite she didn't really have a personality. I didn't dislike her but I didn't like her either. I'm going to read the next book, but right now there isn't a third one out and it doesn't look like it will come out anytime soon so I'll probably have to go through the whole series again when it's released

First off, I was pretty excited to read this. I've been on the site that this book was discovered on for over a year now, so it was really cool that someone's story got discovered. That and the author is so sweet. I was a bit worried before I bought the book though, from some of the negative reviews on here. I was really worried that this book would be another book trying to be Twilight . . . but it wasn't. At least I didn't think this at all while reading it. Did it have a few things in common with Twilight? Sure. A lot of books do, though. I just didn't see the Twilight comparison.

I loved that this was set in Ireland. My roots are Irish on one side of my family and I've always wanted to go to Ireland. It also seems that most YA is set in the USA. So that really made this stand out. I liked Leigh's writing style. I liked the characters, too. I liked that the main character, Megan, seems pretty normal. I like that she has such a close relationship with her father and best friend, as well as her love interest and her family. I also loved the crow. Seriously. He was the funniest/coolest thing in the book. The descriptions were gorgeous and powerful. It was easy to be able to relate to and get inside Megan's head as well. The love story was cute.

Negatives? The plot was interesting, but sometimes I felt it went over my head. I think at times too much was being said and it made my brain feel like it was on overload. At times I felt Adam was a bit clingy. To be honest, I didn't really like him all that well.

I honestly could not with this book, I fathom to see how it got published. A perfect example of an awful book with a wonderful cover.

It was a good read but Adam was too pushy and demanding with Megan. I don't know how she can like someone like that.

I thought this had a great concept but not enough adventure. The love story is extremely fast in development and there were too many wimpy questions like, "should I keep my power, should I not?!" Just too repetitive sometimes but pretty good read.
