This was great I do love this author’s inhuman males and imagination and she really pulls that out of the bag here. Instead of a dragon that shapeshifts into a more humanoid appearance here, the dragon just becomes smaller but he’s still a dragon and I found that strangely compelling. Genre wise this reads a bit like fantasy post-apocalyptic steampunk so a bit of a mish mash. I especially liked the fact that our heroine Tania is a thirty-six old thief she’s also a bit of an opportunist which I found refreshing.
It’s during her latest daring heist that she finds herself coming to the attention of an Ice dragon something she didn’t believe in and this dragon upon scenting Tania decides she’s his mate. It’s all very primal and instinctive on his part and Tania is more than happy to indulge not that she’s given much choice. She then steals away with some of his precious hoard totally enraging him.
Drathnor has been alone for a long time he lives separate from his brethren rejecting their ways when it comes to taking a mate. He doesn’t want to be one of many or give away his treasure to a female as tradition dictates he wants one of his own a precious jewel as the pinnacle of his hoard.
Matehood snaps the bonds into place instantly for him his life force now tethered to hers but Tania is going to need a bit more convincing and training to understand just what their bond entails.
There are also strange things afoot the monastery under which he nests and is now temporarily residing has a strange foul taint one that spells unknown dangers and Drathnor is determined not to allow anything to harm his small precious human mate.
This was erotic and sexy and very different I loved the primal aspects of the mating and loved how protective and possessive Drathnor was towards Talia. As well as the spice this had a decent storyline and I could feel the developing bond click right into place. Overall this was a very enjoyable and unique experience. It has magic and priests and mages and a real dragon it was also well written dual POV and highly imaginative. I definitely recommend this if you want to read something a bit different.
