The whole time I was reading this I felt like I was treading a dream. I love how it makes me feel, like nothing yet everything is real. We can’t escape our history and our genetic. The is never a question of nature versus nurture. They are interdependent. Everything will come full circle whether through one or more generations. The issue of eugenic is horrifying when applied to us but we do it allthe time to animals and plants. Yet, are we inching closer to the idea again after decades of condemnation and silence because now scientists present it in a more humane ways? Science is always at the mercy of the practitioners. The question, do we accept it as norm or not. When we can pick and choose what genes to survive, where is the line to be drawn?

Wow! The first 80 or so pages scared the pants off of me. Couldn't sleep due to watching out for creepy crawlies. Then, it went back in time ... and it got very interesting.

A concept in this book is terrifying for the world: eugenics. So Not Cool. Rooting out undesirable folks and eliminating them from the gene pool. Hitler did it, and other stills try.

In the end, it was a great book. I enjoy that her twist in the end of this book was not as drastic as many other books I've read of hers.

I highly recommend it! And most of Jodi's books.

I enjoyed being frustrated by all these seemingly random characters and their perspectives, and then having them shift to such an important character for the story. everyone is always connected in some way and I like how Picoult does it with small reveals as the story unfolds

also, the ability to combine a ghost story with the history of eugenics is wild and I thought the execution was well done, even thought it took me a while to get into the story
