This book started out really interesting. As it got past the midway point, it just got worse and worse. And more lame. I am disappointed with a book that could have been good.
slow-paced

Very difficult to get into unlike her other novels which I found easy to read.

Strong character development: Yes

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This was a huge long disappointment. I give it 2 stars only because of the interesting historical thing included, but overall this was boring, way too long and it tried to be too overly "exciting". The entire last 60 pages could have been removed, they added nothing to this book.
I generally enjoy her works are interesting easy reads with some substance, but this was terrible

Absolutely fantastic. I have adored everything have I read by Jodi Picoult, and this book proved to be no different. With its strong characters and absolutely fascinating story I was sucked in. The beginning was harder to get into with how many different perspectives there were and how quickly they transitioned into one another with no visible link (yet), it was a slow start, but quickly picked up pace. The ultimate realization of Ross' car crash that happened before the reader is even introduced to the story ultimately ties everything together in such a beautiful and moving way that I will always remember that particular passage in the book. Ross Wakeman is a strong and believable character, as are all of the others in this fantastic tale of love transcending time, but his losses are so palpable you can feel the bitterness he emanates in your own heart, and the peace he has found and is learning to accept at the end of the novel make it a tale to share with everyone you can.

If you like a slow burn, ghosts, and a mystery, this is the book for you.

It was a bit draggy in a few places, but the reveals were worth the wait.

One of my favorite books. A blend of true history and the paranormal with a hint of romance.
