Wow. This book was incredible. This is the third book I have read by Jodi Picoult.

I read the entire thing in 3 days (and I have kids so it takes me a minute usually). The story definitely starts slow and the changing POVs do take a bit to get used to. Once you’re sucked into the story though and the pieces start to come together, it is an amazing story.

Too hard to get into. Abandoned it at around page 60 or so. Flipped through the book to get the idea of what the story was about.

This book was really good. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is a Picoult fan. This book also is interesting in that it involves the history of Abenaki indians and is also a ghost story. The themes are very important and generally inspiring. It's a little slow at the beginning, just like any, but that would definitely not discourage me from recommending this to all readers. (:

Este livro é completamente diferente do habitual da Jodi.

Mindless read. I never know which books of Picoult I will like or dislike. This one was very predictable.

This was such a slow burn that initially I thought I wasn’t going to like it. The first few chapters introduce an overwhelming number of characters that feel impossible to keep track of but as the story builds, each of their stories, and their connections to one another unfold in an organic and beautiful way. The research Picoult does for her novels always gives them a level of authenticity that other novels don’t have. The information about the eugenics project that happened in Vermont in the 1930s was new to me and very interesting. I loved the way Picoult wove her story around such an intense topic — the characters are real and the story is believable even when it’s fantastical.

I enjoyed this book but it took a while for me to get into it. By the time I got into it, the first section was over and part 2 started which was in a whole new time period. I felt like I was back at the beginning again and fighting to get into the book. It was just a struggle. The third section was really good though and I liked how it tied everything together. It completely made up for me being so confused at the beginning.
